Novice Run Group

This group is for novice drivers with less than 10 track days of experience, or the slowest cars. Classroom sessions are included at no charge.

On-Track Procedures

Novice drivers may compete in the Time Trials if they wish. Passing is allowed only on specified straights and only with a point-by. Details will be explained in the class which is mandatory.

Vehicle Safety Equipment

  • Driver Restraint: Factory seat belts (3-point minimum) in good condition are required. 5 or 6-point harnesses are highly recommended.
  • Roll Bars: Open cars (convertibles) must be equipped with roll-over protection. Factory roll-over protection or aftermarket roll-bars are acceptable as long as they pass the "Broomstick Test". If factory rollover protection is built into the top, it must be in place while the car is on track. Also, aftermarket bars must incorporate a structural cross brace.
  • Fire Protection: Fire Extinguishers are not required but are recommended for Solo.
  • Personal Safety Equipment

    • Safety Helmet: Snell SA2016/M2016 (or newer) approved. DOT rated helmets are not acceptable.
    • Eye Protection: Helmet face shield or glasses (sun glasses are OK).
    • Clothing: Non-synthetic/natural fiber clothing, long sleeves, long pants (no shorts, no dresses).
    • Gloves: Non-perforated, leather or fireproof material (leather garden gloves are OK).
    • Shoes: Full coverage shoes (no sandals).

    Intermediate Run Group

This group is for drivers with about 10 to 20 track days of experience and who are comfortable driving on the track.

    On-Track Procedures

Passing is allowed anywhere but only with a point-by. If the driver being overtaken is not comfortable with someone passing at some point on the track, he/she should not give a point-by at that point. They should, however, try to give a point-by as soon as they are comfortable doing so. A driver who is overtaking another car shall not pass unless they get a point-by and they may elect not to pass in the event they get a point-by and are not comfortable with the situation. This kind of passing environment requires drivers to work together if they want to have a pleasant track experience.
Lap times will be provide to anyone who has a working transponder in their car. If they run in the "official" timed session(s) for the event they will be included in the time trial results. This assumes that they have a working transponder in their car. Cars without transponders will be considered “run for fun” entries.

The Advanced Time Trials class is geared toward the experienced Time Trialer (No beginners please!) This class is for the serious TT driver who wants to shave a few tenths off his/her lap times. We’ll work on mechanical tweaks, technique and mental strategies to help you drive a better prepared car, with better control, and do it smarter with less wear and tear on your car!

There will also be in-depth seminars designed to help you find the fastest possible line with detailed instruction to help you with driving techniques to get every 10th possible!

The entry requirements are the same as those for Advanced Run Group.

The Road Racing class is for you if you are an experienced Time Trialer and want to start wheel-to-wheel racing. It is also very useful if you are already race qualified and want to learn more about racing strategy, passing techniques or if just want to increase your experience with starts and get instructor tips and critiques.

The entry requirements are the same as those for Race Group.
